Walking the Coal Line

Peckham, London. Sat 30 May 2015

 From the train in Brixton

 Bussey Alley

Rye Land from the entrance to Bussey Alley

ZA Afro Foods and Peckham Rye Station

The Coal Line would start here, on the north side of the railway line to Queen's Road Peckham, opposite  Z A Afro Foods

it would go  at the top of the brick rail arches

North of the Coal Line is another pair of rail tracks on a single brick viaduct, and the walk had to return to

Rye Lane to go under the railway bridge

 The Coal Line would start

before going down the side of the Peckhamplex cinema and along the side of the multi-storey car park

I climbed the stairway in the middle of the car park and came out on a deck slightly higher
than the railway - the train is going towards Nunhead The Coal Line is on the other side of the D + R Scaffolding yard.
The building behind is the Bussey Building which has a bar on the roof

There is some low greenery - bushes and small trees on the former coal yard; the larger trees are on the far side of the railway lines

I climbed up another level to get a better view

and came to the cafe (as well as an art show)

and next to the cafe was YAM - You and Music Radio

From the north side of the car park there is a wide view of Peckham and, in the distance, the centre of London

I climbed up another floor to the top of the car park

Where there is the Derek Jarman memorial garden "Please do not walk on the gravel or touch the plants- some are poisonous, some are prickly'

With a longer lens Peckham Library, the Shard and the City sky line

and Rye Land Peckham with Vauxhall's latest tower in the distance

and a good view of Peckham Rye station
