Shut Down Yarls Wood 12

Yarl's Wood, Bedford. Sat 18 Nov 2017

As we near Yarls Wood we can hear the women inside who have seen the banners in the distance

 shouting in greeting

We turn on to the final stretch of footpath

and are soon at the fence with graffiti from a previous protest 'nobody forgotten, nothing forgiven...'

 'F**k the Police'

Kicking the fence makes a very satsifying noise

 or you can hit it...

Standing a short distance back people and messages can be seen by those at the top floor windows of the prison

and all those who can get to a window can see the flowers people are putting on the top half of the fence

'Shut Down ALL Detention Centres NOW'

Higher up on the hill someone sets off a smoke flare

 and others stand holding posters

A member of Yarl's Wood staff looks out

and from other windows women wave and hold messages 'SOS Plz' , '5 Months In No End in sight'

'We Need Freedom', 'We just no visa not criminal', 'Release Us'...
