Central Hill Open Gardens Estates

Crystal Palace, London. Sat 18 June 2016

Simon Elmer of Architects for Social Housing asks Helen Hayes MP why she is at the Open Estates event

She campaigned for the councillors who want to demolish the estate

and in the recent by-election in the ward, where there was a huge swing from Labour to the Greens, over the library closure and estate demolition plans

A Labour supporter with Helen Hayes argues with Simon Elmer

Helen Hayes won't answer the questions, instead says her friend Jo Cox was killed

and walks out. People were appalled that she used the murder of Jo Cox as an excuse

The argument continued briefly without her, with Labour supporters arguing with Simon and Jane Nicholl who
told them of her disgust at Jo Cox's murder being used like this

One of the estate residents shakes hands with Simon Elmer, praising him for the way he questioned the MP

A film is shown about how Southwark, a neighbouring Labour council mistreated residents in the redevelopment of Myatt Fields

Work starts on a mural on a wall on the estate

The view from the flats at upper levels of the estate across Central London makes the site very attractive to developers

Some of the sheets in the exhibition of the alternative plans - Lambeth have refused to consider these in any depth
