Christmas Rally For The NHS

Whitechapel, London. Thu 17 Dec 2015

Dr Ashling Lillis talks about the fight by Junior Doctors against Jeremy Hunt's unfair contract

Dr Ashling Lillis and other junior doctores in the National Health Singers sing along with the iTunes song "Yours"

Maggie Falshaw of the 'Save Our Surgeries' campaign against cuts in payments to surgeries in Tower Hamlets

Pamela, a student nurse from Kings speaks about the campaign against government plans to axe NHS student bursaries
and asks for support at their protest in January

and one of her tutors backs the campaign to save the bursaries

Sam Strudwick, occupational therapist and Unison steward at Whipps Cross Hospital

Whipps Cross, like the Royal London, is a part of the Barts health group, financially bankrupted by the huge cost

of the PFI-built new Royal London. Huge repayments are now being made for a scheme which gives excessive profit to shareholders. If the NHS is to be saved, these poorly conceived and badly negotiated contracts need to be revisited and transferred to general government debts.

Another student nurse, Anna, speaks

Dr Naomi Beer, Jubilee Street Practice

Jackie Applebee Turner of Tower Hamlets BMA

I think she was the final speaker, but I had to rush away before she had finished
