Caged vigil for Shaker Aamer

Trafalgar Square, London. Sat 16 May 2015

I came too late for the main speeches, but the vigil was continuing for 14 hours - an hour for every day that

Shaker Aamer has been held without charge or trial in prison at Guantanamo Bay. But in Trafalgar Square there

were none of the regular beatings and other indignities which Shaker is still subjected to at Guantanamo

And although the 'prisoner' was alone in a cage, there were plenty of supporters around, unlike Shaker who is in solitary

Every hour there was a short period of speeches and activities in support of Shaker
