John Lewis customers support Living Wage

John Lewis, Oxford St, London. Sat 21 Mar 2015

John Lewis customers were protesting to support the cleaners who are campaigning for a living wage

John Lewis contracts out the cleaning in its stores, but has refused to insist that contractors pay a living wage or
offer decent working conditions in their store. Many other organisations have insisted such things as a condition of tender

Jane Lambert supported the cleaners demands and started a petition for them that now has over 143,000 signatures

Many customers were surprised to find that cleaners were so badly treated at John Lewis

A police officer comes to ask the protesters what they intend to do

Customers handing out leaflets were told they must stand outside the line marking John Lewis property

Cleaners had come to support the protest that customers were making for them

A new badge 'John Lewis your customers say PAY THE LIVING WAGE'

A wwoman signs the petition - now signed by over 143,000 customers of John Lewis and Waitrose
