Devon/Dorset Holiday

Rousdon, 11-12 Jul 2014

Rousdon is on the main road parallel to the coast from Lyme Regis to Axmouth. There isn''t a lot of it

The Rousdon Estate was the home of Mr Peek of Peek Frean biscuits, and he set up a public (private) school here
Now the buildings are holiday homes.

There is another street in Rousdon, with a few houses and eggs for sale, as well as a couple of camp sites

We arrived around teatime on Friday, and while waiting for dinner took a walk around the village. It took five minutes as we weren't hurrying

The Rousdon Estate war memorial and milestone - and our bedroom window to its left. Rousdon no longer has a church but there is rather a nice

one about a mile to the north in Combpyne where we walked after dinner.

Saturday we walked down a lane towards Dowlands

Dowlands

Fom where a public bridleway leads through the Rousdon Estate

The Victorian St Pancras Church is now holiday homes

As are all the rather fancy school buildings and the Mansion House
