Cleaners Invade John Lewis Oxford Street

Oxford St, London. Sat 26 Oct 2013

I met the IWGB cleaners in the cafe on the top floor of John Lewis's flagship store in Oxford St

where they got out their flags, banners nd megaphone and began the protest

They came out of the cafe and on to the main floor of the store

making a lot of noise so that everyone would notice them

after walking around on the top floor, they took the escalator down, protesting on the way

and many of the shoppers in the store stopped to look

They stopped and let everyone know why they were protesting. The security staff watched them but didn't interfere

One man went to assault the cleaner's leader, Alberto Durango, but security staff quickly stopped him

The cleaners kept up their protest

as they made their way down the escalator stack in the centre of the store
