Cleaners Invade John Lewis Oxford Street

Oxford St, London. Sat 26 Oct 2013

John Lewis security talk with Alberto Durango

I'm not sure they intended to go all the way down to the basement

but they walked around there making their greivances known. The cleaners want to be treated in the same way

as others who work for John Lewis. One of the protesters was a 'partner' for the company who was sacked for

giving a newspaper interview supporting them. Also on the protest were some RMT members, supporting the

City Link workers who deliver goods for John Lewis and are also in dispute over pay and conditions.

and RMT Assistant General Secretary Steve Hedley took part in the protest and spoke at the short rally held on

the ground floor of the store

Alberto Durango, President of the IWGB speaking

Chris Baugh, Assistant General Secretary of PCS, speaks in support of IWGB cleaners protest
