Cyclists Protest Olympic Towpath Closure

Leyton Marsh & Lea Navigation, London. Sunday 22 Jul 2012

And pose with pictures from Leyton Marsh

The t-shirts are for sale, but the protesters are appealing against a court decision which awarded the Olympic

authorities costs which they claim are out of all proportion at over £20,000

View from the bridge with the protest picnic, Olympic media centre, fence across towpath and Lea Navigation

Eastway with the 10 ft high electrified fence

Olympic rings sheltered by several layers of fencing

A protester complains to the PCSOs that the towpath closure is illegal - it is an official route to the games

still shown as such on the Olympic web site.

They listen but tell him decisions like that are above their pay grade

The G4S navy speeds up the Lea

and then hangs around for an hour or so watching

A woman has brought miniature banners to pin to clothing reading 'Save Our Marsh' and 'Open the Path'

which she has made on vintage cloth. She offers to pin them on other people and suggests that they too

can decorate them as she has. A dog is already wearing his.
