Newham's Shame - Carpenters Estate Tour

Stratford, London. Sat 21 Jul 2012

Dennison Point is virtually next to the station, and there used to be a direct exit to the estate, this was closed

You can see the station at right, opposite the Carpenters & Docklands Centre

We stop for some short addresses in a green at the centre of the estate

The council started emptying homes in good condition and using metal plates to stop them being squatted in 2006

The Olympic site is really very close

Good solid 1960s housing on a pedestrianised street . A popular estate on which many bought houses

The garden of The Carpenters Arms with Lund Point

The Carpenters TMO was taken over to follow council policy by 'losing' some nominations
and disallowing leaseholders and owner occupiers on the estate who had previously been a part of it from standing

Joe Alexander of CARP speaking about this - and how it led to CARP being set up

A local resident who has lived on the estate for many years and intends to stay gave a powerful and emotional address
