À bientôt EU, see you soon

Westminster, London. Fri 31 Jan 2020

Leaving the EU means the loss of free movement - and the EHIC cards which give free access to medical services

'To Brexit - You have destroyed my future career and dreams' - I couldn't vote I was only 16. One of many young

people who feel betrayed by the votes of the elderly.

 EU Supergirl' Madeleina Kay

'In the End Love Always Wins - Forever European - Hope is Power - We WIll be Back'

 'Thank EU for the MEUsic

 The march begins

and goes through Parliament Square to jeers from some Brexiteers

and makes its way through the back streets to Smith Square and the European Commission at Europe House

 where they wait outside

and the European Commission staff come out to welcome them and are given flowers

and there is a short speech, expressing thanks for what the EU has done for our country and hoping that

one day we will rejoin Europe.

Several groups in the crowd sang the EU anthem 'Ode to Joy'

I went home. I'd had enough of Brexit. We will have to live with its consequences for some years and I'm not
looking forward to it. Times are likely to be tough for the poor, the disabled, the sick and for workers generally,
including most of those who voted for it and were celebrating in Parliament Square. The wealthy will of course
gain - not least by avoiding the clamp down on tax evasion which the EU is now beginning.
