DPAC 'Bye Bye Boris' Uxbridge trial
Uxbridge, Middlesex. Fri 6 Dec 2019
'Cuts Kill' says a well worn poster with a large plastic cleaver wired
on it
Paula Peters is the judge for a trial of Boris Johnson and the Tories
for their cuts and sanctions which have killed
many thousands and their 'war on the disabled' . At the back of the
'court' is a banner that gives the names and
a few pictures of just over a hundred people who have died after losing
benefits.
The protesters wear t-shirts with the message 'End the war on disabled
people - Use your vote to #TrashTheTories.
Maggie Zolobajluk gives evidence about ex-soldier David Clapson, a
diabetic whose benefits were stopped
because he missed a DWP appointment. He couldn't afford food, nor
electricity for the fridge for his insulin and
died with now food in his stomach as a direct result of the DWP sanctions.
A passer-by stops to talk with one of the protesters
Many have died because of delays in paying Universal Credit
and hundreds have committed suicide after having their benefits withdrawn
after failing fitness to work tests which,
are known not to be fit for purpose and are carried out by often unqualified
people who are pressured to fail
claimants. Three-quarters of those who appeal the decisions are successful,
but it takes a long time and
they often face another test and failure within weeks of a successful
appeal.
Others tell harrowing personal stories and those of friends and family
A woman passing by gives her very negative opinion of Boris Johnson
and the Tory party
Maggie speaks again
Disabled people have suffered greatly under the Coalition and Tories
- and it is hard to avoid the conclusion that
government policy has been to try and kill them off - and Mary -Ellen
holds a card 'Dead People Don't Claim'
One protester dressed as the Grim Reaper, wearing a Boris Johnson
mask - and here gets a taste of his own scythe
Boris the Grim Reaper
'Tories Out, Corbyn In'
The judge sums up the damning case - clearly the Tories are guilty
of trying to eliminate disabled people
'One death is one too many', but academic studies suggest the Tory
policies have led to at least 120,000 early deaths
It starts to rain as the protesters pose for a final photograph
and as I wait for my bus home it really pours down.
