The march lines up behind the banner 'No To Trump - No To NATO'
'Mad America'
The Statue of Liberty supports Greta and David Attenborough
Lindsey German is among those holding the main banner
Kurds march down the Mall
and the march is brought to a halt by police
and kept waiting.... and waiting
Kurds protest noisily while the march is held by police
the rest of the march protests more quietly
Chris Nineham argues with police who are holding the march up
and after 25 minutes journalists join in the argument
Eventually police let the march cross Marlborough Rd, only to hold
it up again a short distance on, but some of
the protesters who are fed up with being stopped for over half an hour push
past the police and the police stop
trying to prevent the rest of us following and we make our way to the area
set aside for protests in front of the palace.
'Why Blow Up A Beautiful Planet!'
Police seem to have held up the bulk of the marchers for another ten
minutes or so, but finally the Palestine
Solidarity Campaign arrive
'Trump: Hands Off Palestine'
'The only place that needs a #Muslim Ban is Guantanamo'
Then more Kurds are let through by the police and arrive
The large crowd is spread out along the whole of the area - this is just
one small section. At one end, surrounded
by police are a handful of pro-Trump protesters. People are still arriving
to join the protest against Trump and
NATO as I walk back to Trafalgar Square along the Mall.
