Opposite Downing St are people with various personal light electric
vehicles including scoooters
who have come to demand that their use is made legal on roads and
pavements where bicycles are allowed.
A poster points out the absurdity of the current law - made before
electric scooters etc were available
Across Whitehall a popular cycle event is taking place - with barriers
and tapes to protect the cyclists
But cyclists need provision and protection every day of the year,
not just for this
A man with a wig impersonates Prime Minister Johnson
He cycles across the road and stops in front of the gates to Downing
St
then comes back across Whitehall for a TV company to film him
Many now use these PLEVs on the road, although it is illegal
The protesters pose for a group portrait
A man rids on an electic wheel, his hand at left of picture on a control
and four people get ready to scoot for the camera
A woman holds a poster as I leave
and the cyclists keep coming down Whitehall
one with a dog in her basket.
