People met outside the French Embassy in Knightsbridge to protest
against the brutality of the French police in Paris
who had used pepper spray at close range on seated peaceful protesters
at last weekend's protest on the Pont du Sully
There were families with children at the protest
and the banner read 'Frugality - Humanity - Empathy'
Some of the placards were in French
and there were a number of French citizens taking part in the protest
Some peole were dressed in white 'chemical' suits to play the role
of the police later in the protest
The 'police' stand holding spray bottles - but these only contain
water
and faced the protesters who sat down on the road
A man who was in Paris and saw the police action tells everyone what
he saw
and the 'police' move in to spray the protesters - but only with water
it was extremely hot and the water spray was welcome - unlike the
pepper spray
as in Paris, the protesters held their hands in the air, and singing
in French,
‘police officers be gentle - we do this for your children’.
The 'police' manhandle one of the protesters
and spray him at close range - as they did one of the protesters,
removing his sunglasses to spray into his eyes
Pepper Spray should not be used at short range
