In front of the library at Wood Green were two groups of protesters,
a Turkish group
and the Revolutionary Communist Group, protesting against Universal
Credit
They had taped posters to the pavement and were speaking and handing
out leaflets
Some paused to read the posters or take a leaflet
or listened to the speeches
about the effects of Universal Credit, forcing people in to debt.
Many get behind with rent and there has been a
large surge in evictions and families and individual made homeless
because of Universal Credit. many more
are forced to rely on food banks because it takes at least 5 weeks
for any money to come through when you are put on UC.
As the group began to pack up they posed for pictures, though a few
had already left
'I want my right to reside' Çagri Güler, an asylum seeker
from Turkey has been sitting in for over a month
for all people who are left undocumented and without rights because
of the Home Office.
