Climate Protest at Barclays Bank

Brixton, London. Sat 30 Mar 2019

Barclays in on the main road through the centre of Brixton, Brixton Road, just north of Coldharbour Lane

The protesters want Barclays to stop investing in fracking and in carbon fuels, which are the main source

of the carbon dioxide which is causing the drastic global warming, bring climate chaos and possible extinction

This was the first protest organised by this group

and by the woman who organised it

'Dirty Money Inside' 'Barclay's Stop Investing in Death'

The youngest of the speakers (her younger brother tried but couldn't think of anything to say) who had a better
grasp of the situation and its urgency than our politicians. She wants to be Prime Minister - and would do a better job than May.

 Support came from the unions

The group decided they would go and protest inside the bank

and there were a few short speeches explaining the reasons for the protest to customers and staff

A Barclay's customer was among those who spoke calling for the bank to stop wrecking the climate

'It's getting HOT in here so De-Fund Fossil Fuels'

 'Stop Funding CLimate Change'

After a few minutes the protesters left quietly to continue their protest outside on the busy main street

One protester recalls how back in the 60s we protested against Barclay's becuase they were supporting

 apartheid in South Africa.

The amounts Barclays is investing in killing our planet is huge - $85 billion in 2 years
