Black Cab Drivers blockade

Drivers stand around in small groups talking. Transport for London
have announced some small measures to
try and cut the terrible congestion in London, which taxis make a
large contribution to, and the drivers object
Many Londoners think much more drastic action is needed to cut congestion
and pollution
and black cabs spend much of their time cruising around empty, 'plying
for hire'. There are better ways to organise
taxi systems now than in the age of the hansom cab. Drivers say they
provide an important service for wheelchair
users, but a proper smartphone-based system would do that better.
Pedicabs were enjoying the empty roads - though their rates for journeys
are eye-watering
Only a few roads are affected by the TfL changes and the driver's
response seems extreme.

A ride to Trafalgar Square, half a mile away, costs £10 per person.
