End BP sponsorship at British Museum
British Museum, London. Sat 16 Feb 2019
BP or Not BP perform briefly in one of the museum galleries with a
banner 'British Museum - Proudly Sponsored
by Climate Change ' and the BP logo
They play the role of BP executives, boasting how much good publicity
they get from such a small amount
of money to the museum, and how it helps to cover up their criminal
actitivies in promoting fossil fuel and
Oil drips down from their mouths as they stand there
They pose with the banner in several other places of the Assyrian
pointing out the BP logo on the display stands
and standing in front of some of the Assyrian objects.
and finish by posing for a selfie before going back to the Great Hall
where they repeat the performance in front of the entrance to the
current BP sponsored exhbition,
'I am Ashurbanipal, King of the WOrld, King of Assyria which contains
objects looted from Iraq after the US/UK invasion
again more oil drips down from their mouths as they boast how sponsoring
the British Museum diverts attention
from their great contribution to climate change, and global pollution.
At the front of the Great Hall a large crowd, mainly in black is taking
part in the protest, with some actors dressed
in bright red t-shirts with the message 'I Object to BP'
They point their fingers to show their disgust at the guilt of BP
and the British Museum and call for an end to
the sponsorship of the museum by dirty oil - and a company that has plundered
the middle east for years
