Workers strike at Business ministry

BEIS, Westminster, London. Wed 13 Feb 2019

BEIS workers say Minister Greg Clark is starving them to feed the profits of the outsourcing companies.

They say his approach is "let them eat cakes". So they brought cakes to hand out in return for donations to the strike fund.

Low paid workers are employed by outsourcing firms Engie and Aramark on pay and conditions the civil service would be ashamed to offer

Although they work inside the BEIS and are essential to its running, Minister Greg Clark denies any responsibility

 for them.

The strikers work as cleaners, security staff and caterers and are paid less than the London Living Wage

The protest continues with music and dancing,

'Why don't you care?' the workers ask Greg Clark

The BEIS London and South PCS Union Branch to which the workers belong organised the protest

and it was part of a campaign together with the United Vocies of the World to get the London Living Wage for all

 workers in Government departments.

Some people leaving the BEIS took an interest in the strikers

'Unions Hate Outsourcing' because it is always unfair to the workers, with low wages, poor conditions and

often bullying management. The companies cut costs at the expense of the workers to make their profits.

The protest grew as more workers ended their shifts and joined the strike
