UPHD drivers protest unfair congestion charge

London Bridge, London, UK. Mon 11 Feb 2019

UPHD co-Founder and General Secretary James Farrar speaks to drivers at the rally on London Bridge

A show of hands decides that they will march to protest at CIty Hall

 and they move off

James Farrar leads them and reminds them that this is a peaceful protest and they need to avoid any confrontation

The go down the steps to the riverside walk

 'Stop Sadiq's #TaxOnThePoor'

By now it is getting dark - rather darker than these pictures suggest as they march up to CIty Hall

The protesters are lit by the lights inside CIty Hall as they crowd in front of its door and glass wall

The protest blocks the door and shouts loudly but is peaceful

Soon police arrive and form a line in front of the building, but there is no threat to those inside

The drivers have come to make their point, not to cause any damage

The drivers march around CIty Hall

with Tower Bridge in the background

and then turn towards Tower Bridge

and go up the stairway to the road, where a few make their way onto the roadway, but are quickly brought back

by stewards with a little help from the police

and the march organisers tell everyone to go back down the stairs

The protesters go back down and as they are on their way back to their cars I turn off to London Bridge station
to make my way home.
