'Lewishame Council Stole the Communities Garden......'
'Shame on Lewishame'
'Wildlife Matters. Please Lewisham Council Save our Garden' They came
a day or so later and bulldozed much of it
'Green Space Matters'
Leigh tells people what appears to be happening about the meeting
'Shame on Peabody', the developer who want to build on the garden
and the site of Reginald House
'Granny What's A Tree ? ? ? '
People around the corner can see the edge of a meeting going on inside
Two poloice officers arrive and go inside
Protesters hold the banner in front of the door to the building
A group of protesters try to go inside for the public meeting but
the door is locked and security are under orders
not to let them in yet. They are promised they will be allowed in
later - but they are not
It doesn't look as if the Mayor will come, and I decide I have to leave.
Later I learn he did arrive very late, that those
trying to attend the public meeting were not allowed in, and that at the
end of the meeting there were angry scenes
as the Mayor left, with police making several arrests.
