Extinction Rebellion roadblock
Parliament Square. London. Sat 31 Oct 2018
Donnachadh McCarthy holds up a small Extinction Rebellion flag in
one of the groups remaining to block the road
Police surround the group and talk to the protesters, warning them
they will be arrested if they remain
George Monbiot is also in the group
Police grab one man and arrest him
They come to arrest Donnachadh McCarthy
The protesters have linked arms to make it harder to remove
them
Police grab Donnachadh McCarthy
and pull away the arms that are holding him
They manage to lift him up
and take him away
George Monbiot has to leave to pick up his children from school
but others remain
and the police make more arrests
They hold those arrested behind barriers in front of the fence around
the Houses of Parliament
while they wait for vans to take them away
Donnachadh talks to the police - and holds a seminar in the van when
they take him away
Police move others off the road
Some continue the protest on the pavement or on the hardened mud of
the square
while the lock-on continues
