Trees have been identified and numbered in the Old Tidemill Garden.
There are 74 well-established trees.
We sit around for a discussion about the relationship between art
and gentrification
I make a brief contribution but I think some others are trying to
find excuses for their complicity
While some are just describing the struggle to keep the garden and
social housing
One of the residents from Reginald House spoke about their fight to
keep their homes
as the talking seemed to come to an end I went for a longer walk around
the site
There is a reading room
various art works...
steps from sleepers
and an area surrounded by water
bridges lead across the ditch to an island area
a giant insect
Outside on the street are notices and banners
'Gentrification is Organized Crime'
and the latest art work to which we had been invited to add our hand
prints as we arrived
'Deptford Needs to Breathe' and all those trees and plants help
'Support our Legal Fight'
'Refugees Welcome'
'From Tidemill to Hambacher We'll Fight Back'
