Few birthdays are celebrated with events which combine such excessive
noise, waste of resources and pollution
First came the helicopters
Then some WWII vintage aircraft
and this rather odd thing
On its tail was the message RAF 100. My father was serving with the
RFC when they became the RAF but I
don't expect there were huge celebrations where he was in France at
the time. Though perhaps they drank to it.
Later in life he had to be tee-total (and my infant hand was guided
around the pledge as a little white ribboner)
but I think then he enjoyed an occasional pint of beer.
It did rather look as if those funny little triangles were stuck to
the wing tips of the larger plane
Then we got four in a diamond formation. They reminded me a little
of watching tropical fish in a tank
which would have been more colourful, much cheaper and considerably
less noisy
and for the finale we got some more visible polluton across the sky.
Rather more like the flag of the Netherlands than the Union Flag,
but that would require some very tricky flying indeed!
