Sikhs remember the 1984 genocide

London. Sat 3 Jun 2018

Sikhs were gathering in Hyde Park for the annual march to remember the events of 1984 and call for an

independent Sikh state, Khalistan. Most sat on the grass to listen to speeches

but some remained standing. I took a few minutes to eat some free food provided for the event.

Freedom for Khalistan and another banner calls the Indian government Murderers. Thousands of Sikhs died in 1984

both in the army attacks on the Golden Temple and more in the governement promoted mob killings later in the year

Sikhs are still dying at the hands of the Indian government - including a Sikh activist tortured to death 18th April 2018

'Our Hero Bhindranwale - Long Live Khalistan'. Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was killed in 'Operation Blue Star',

the attack by the Indian Army on the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar

and a supporter of Khalistan Movement, killed by Indian army snipers in Operation Blue Star in 1984

Babbar Khalsa is banned as a terrorist organisation in the UK and some other countries.
