The march sets off
witha drumme and wreaths behind the flags
and the younger scouts follow on
Many of the Armenians carried their national flag
'Silence is Denial' and t-shirts with the message 'Our Wounds are
still Open - 1915'
It was a deliberate attempt by the Turks to eliminate the Aremenian
people - but some fled and moved to
an area outside of Turkey where other Armenians lived. But 1.5million
were killed - and later the term 'genocide'
was coined to describe what the Turks tried to do on the Armenians.
But Turkey still does not recognise its crimes
The marchers move down Park Lane
'Stop Dictatorship!!! - #RejectSerzh - mass protests were taking place
in Armenia - a 'velvet revolution' tp get
former president Serzh Sargsyan to resign from his post as Prime Minister
of Armenia, accusing him of being a dictator.
and a few days later he resinged. He had tried to stay in power by
altering the constitution and changing his role.
People march with a banner with a verse of a poem by an Armenian poet
"
We were peaceful as our mountains You invaded like savage storms.
We rose against you like our mountains, You howled like savage storms.
But we are eternal as our mountains. You will die out like savage storms.
