City Highwalk

London, Wed 18 April 2018

The gardens were looking rather better now

and the stature of the Minotaur has been moved to them

A long queue of people were walking past the east edge of the Barbican

Salters Hall has an entirely ornamental gate

I turned back towards the bridge over London Wall

THis whole area used to be a wide pedestrian walkway and gardens at this level, with low shops and kioks

now there are just narrow walkways, but it has really opened up the area at ground level

The walkway leads past the ruins of St Alphege (or St Alphage)

Wood St - a bridge leads acroos to the walkway on the opposite side of the road

where you can look down south along Wood St

in a wide area at Alban Gate

But there is another dead end that looks along London Wall

Escalators lead down from the walkway to Wood St

 and St Alphege Gardens

The Minotaur - which used to be in Postman's Park

Salters' Hall has its own garden

I once worked on a Chemistry project they sponsored for a new approach to GCSE Chemistry

I went up the steps to the high walk again

and walked back towards Alban Gate

Where a high walk goes along beside London Wall to the Museum of London and

on to Aldersgate, where an escalator took me down to street level to walk to St Paul's underground station.
