Tamils protest at the continuing violence against Muslims in Sri Lanka
by Buddhist mobs
The government has declared a state of emergency and sent in police
and troops but the violence continues
with some accusing the police and soldiers for failing to intervene.
Muslims in Sri Lanka are Tamils while the Buddhists are Sinhalese
(there are also Christian Tamils)
The Tamils were beaten in a lengthy civil war in Sri Lanka after they
fought against persecution by the
Sinhalese Buddhist majority.
