Open House - Banqueting House
Whitehall, London. Sat 16 Sep 2017
Staines to first floor level
The hall is a double cube - equal width and height but twice as long
Rubens and his studio painted the ceiling in Antwerp and it was shipped
The gallery was for spectators to watch the king eat and other performances
The impressively ugly throne is quite out of keeping with the interior
Windows along one side look out on Whitehall
Mirrors to look at the ceiling
