 The Town Hall from Church Steps

 

 

 Packer Spout Gardens

 

 Packer St - Thew Flying Horse Hotel replaced an earlier building which might have been more interesting in 1926

 Former Empire Hall music hall from 1904

 Former Rochdale post office

 

 Rochdale Vintners Co Ltd, Newgate is a listed 1911 former wine bar

 River Roch

  These sites have been occupied by banks since 1819, though the stone building dates from 1914 when I think it was Williams Deacon’s Bank

 The red brick is a small part of a larger bank building, I think from before 1819 and at left is the 1979 extension

 

 I banked at the Manchester branch of Williams Deacon’s Bank in the 1960s

 Bull Brow - bulls were baited in the RIver Roch near here
    
 

 THe bank s now RBS

  Lancashire Wallpaper & Paint Co. Sudden Mill, Rochdale

'A pub of Character and Tradition At the Heart of the Community' The Windmill closed around 2009.
