Brentford to Greenford

London. Sat 15 April 2017

At Brentford the canal is now dominated by some rather overpowering flats where docks sheds used to be

The one remaining covered dowck has had its roof removed

and some fancy artwork added, greatly reducing its appeal

Though the painting at a lower level is rather better

The whole sense of the building has been lost

The towpath crosses to the opposite bank over Gallows Bridge.

It was built in 1820 by the Horseley Iron Works, Birmingham. Grade II listed, probably designed by Thomas Telford

PIccadilly line bridge - the District Line used formerly to go to Hounslow too.

The canal goes under the M4

There are various streams and overflows from the canal into the RIver Brent which runs more or less alongside

and in some sections unites with the canal.

Trumpers Way has several business and industrial parks

including some to the north of the road

We left the canal to walk beside the RIver Brent

going under the Uxbridge Rd to the Hanwell Viaduct

and Brent Lodge Park, which has a Millennium Maze

a bridge at the north end of the park leads across the Brent

and past the cricket club to the golf course

and then back to the River Brent

Across the Ruislip Rd to Coston's Lane

 and into Perivale Park

then crossing the bridge over Western Avenue and another mile or so on to Greenford Station - where we got a
bus back to Brentford for the train home..
