Eventually police arrived and talked with the building
secuirity and some of the protesters
Some people stood outside and in the doorway with banners and
posters
while others relaxed in the foyer
Ther was music on the UVW public address system and people
danced
while secuirty stood and watched
More police arrived and an officer came to talk to Petros Elia
who told them it was a peaceful protest and they would leave
after they had made their point to the LSE facilities manager
Poeple could still walk in and out without any hindrance, but
shortly afterwards
more police arrived and decided to stop people entering - and
workers coming back from lunch
had to use a side door into the building
Petros Elia wanted David Graeber to come with him to speak to
the facilities mamagner
if the police could persuade him to talk to them, but
eventually only Petros was
allowed to go and talk. The talk went on for around five
minutes, and Petros then
returned smiling to tell the protesters that the LSE who had been
refusing to talk to the cleaners had agreed to a
meeting - and the protesters then walked out of the foyer and
prepared to end the protest outside. But then police
stepped in and arrested Lisa McKenzie.
