An odd teapot in the entrance to Cannizaro Park
Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia (1892-1975), exiled when fascist
Italy took over Ethiopia in 1936 stayed in Wimbledon
at the house of Richard and Hildo Seligman close to the park. Hilda,
an amatuer sculptor, made this bust of him
It was restored in 2005, but has deteriorated again since then
The park is a place of pilgrimage for some Rastfarians
The Italian garden has some urns
The Belvedere was added after the park was given to Wimbledon Council
in 1948
and dates from the early 1950s
I tried to stand on the short column but it wobbled terribly
There is a curious spikey bit at left.
