Cleaners demand 'End Nepotism'

155 Moorgate, London. Thu 6 Oct 2016

Cleaners hold posters in the lobby of the Mace headquarters building in Moorgate

Some stayed on the pavement outside with the new banner

and handed out flyers and let people know why the CAIWU was protesting

A police officer arrived after just over 15 minutes and talked with Alberto

 and then called for assistance

I think Alberto told the officer they would not cause any damage and

would shortly be leaving, but it was too noisy to hear

'We are NOT the dirt WE CLEAN'

As more police arrived, Alberto led the cleaners out of the lobby

The protest continued for another 20 minutes on the pavement outside

A police officer tells Alberto they are making a lot of noise, and

he agrees - they came here to do so and shame Mace and Dall Cleaning Services

after Dall dismissed two cleaners without notice or proper procedures.

Mother, Daughter-in-Law, Son, Daughter, Husband - all cleaning supervisors  here

Alberto Durango, General Secretary of the CAIWU, talks to a police officer

and tells him they won't be long. The officer has been at several previous CAIWU protests

and recognises me as well as the cleaners.

Alberto ends the protest with the warning "We'll be back - and that's a fact"
