Shut Down Yarl's Wood

Near Bedford, UK. Sat 10 Sep 2016

Prisoners speaking on phones are linked to the sound system

Many of the windows have a reflective coating so we cannot see inside - but we can see hands coming out

and some stick messages on the outside of the windows or wave articles of clothing

Some protesters wave and hold up posters - and blow bubbles

Some inside write longer messages - the two sheets here read 'Go to 10 Downing St' and 'Shut Yarl's Wood Down'

 Others look out through windows

Families are housed on the lower floor here - and some of them wave at the protesters, clearly welcoming the

protest. Many have been inside for many months and feel they have been forgotten

Many of those who spoke had been detained inside Yarls Wood - and were able to speak to friends still inside

and to encourage them to keep up the fight. Most who do fight will suceed eventually, but too many who should

be granted asylum are being deported - and often back into very dangerous situations
