Southwark Councillor Richard Livingstone, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Financial Inclusion
and formerly responsible for housing the borough

gets shouted down by housing campaigners

Some try to stop the shouting, saying we all have to work together against the Housing Act, but Southwark is

pursuing policies which have similar consequences to the Act - selling off council houses and building properties

almost entirely for market rents, resulting in social cleansing. Their opposition to the Act is probably because

they think it may cut their profits from selling off council housing - not to provide the social housing that is needed.
