No More Deaths from Benefit Cuts

Tottenham Court Rd, London. Thur 19 May 2016

Delegates from the TUC disabled workers conference came out to protest during the lunch break, lining up

in front of Congress House with banners 'No More Deaths from Benefit Cuts'. Among them were activists from

Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC), Mental Health Resistance Network (MHRN) and

Winvisible (Women with visible and invisible disabilities).

and set off down Great Russel St towards Tottenham Court Rd

where they stopped and waited for the pedestrian crossing lights to change

moving out into the middle of the road when they did, and stopping there

 Paula Peters of DPAC

Building workers were among those who stopped to listen and watch

'Is This How 2 treat Disabled People?' a banner asks

Paula Peters speaks with some anger; two more DPAC members have just died because of the Benefit cuts

Roger Lewis of DPAC speaking

and Paul leads some chanting. Many of her friends have died because of the government cuts

and a poster at the back lists around a hundred names and some with photos, among them

David Clapson, a diabetic ex-soldier who died penniless, alone and starving after being sanctioned. He didn't
even have enough money to keep the refrigerator to store his insulin running.
