Basingstoke Canal Walk

Brookwood to Ash Vale, Surrey.Mon 28 Mar 2016

The canal was bought by Surrey and Hampshire County Councils and is run by the Basingstoke Canal Authority

Still water on this length - the Deepcut cutting - gave virtually perfect reflections

A more recent bridge at Deepcut Bridge Road gives opportunities to graffiti artists

 'NHS NOT Trident'

Houses on Lake Rd back on to the canal

 A 1930s house at Deepcut

The next seciton of topath was very muddy

The canal goes over the main line in an aqueduct

Potter's Pool

Mychett Lake is army property -marked by the fence across it

and there is the Army Medical Services Museum

The railway line to Ash Vale station

Ash Cale Bouthouse where Alec Harmsworth's boat hire centre became a large barge building and repair centre

Our train back to Ascot went through Army owned woodland and across the

canal by Mytchett  Lake in sunlight, but a minute later torrential rain made it difficult to see through the windows.
