Shut Down Yarl's Wood

Yarl's Wood, Bedford. Sat 12 Mar 2016

Karen Doyle and Antonia Brigght try to contact those inside by phone

to relay their messages to the crowd outside

 People climbed up with balloons

and stood kicking the fence making a very loud noise

Someone threw a red smoke flare over the fence

More kicking

'Sisters Against State Violence' 'No to Deportation' 'No Sister is Illegal'

'Close Down Yarl's Wood & All Detention Centres'

'NO -victim hating, scapegoating, legal aid cuts...'

Another smoke flare - but I was up on the slope and too far away, and moving fast on slippery mud was impossible

People banged the fence with placards and someone found a log to batter it with

Others joined in to help. The fence vibrated but didn't give at all
