Lewisham Housing Action

Lewisham Council Offices, Catford, London. Thu 4 Dec 2014

I arrived just before the protesters decide to go inside the council offices

but most of them are stopped

A council employee tells them to continue their protest outside but they cannot come in

People argue that as Lewisham residents they should be allowed in and try to walk past the security men

Things get rather confused and the security gets rather rough

People continue the protest in the lobby

There are arguments with security men as people claim they have a right to enter

A few protesters did manage to get inside before security realised what was happening

but most are in the entrance lobby or outside

The secuirty men are still acting aggresively

Outside people hold up large posters about Lewisham's housing crisis - '500 families in B+Bs'

Only '6 council homes being built'

despite there being '17,000 waiting for homes' on the council's waiting list

Those inside also continue the protest

though it's hard to photograph them well through the windows
