Brent Housing Sit-in

South Kilburn Housing Office, London. Fri 7 Nov 2014

Regeneration hits local people forcing them out of the area to areas with cheaper property - social cleansing

Housing Office staff come out and ask the protesters to leave and protest outside

A woman from the Housing Office shows them the door

but the protesters say they will continue to protest inside - and it is a protest that is causing little disruption

As well as forcing local people out, regeneration also leads to people having to move into private rented accomodation with little or no security of tenure

Most contracts are short term, and small landlords often fail to do repairs and evict tenants who complain.

A woman from 'Women of Colour in the Global Women's Strike also spoke at the event

Police officers come to talk to the protesters. They see people carrying out a peaceful protest in a community facility

as exercising their right to protest - which the police have a duty to facilitate.

The protest continues, but I lave to leave.
