The Ukrainian miners are suffering from huge inflation and attacks on wages
They work for London registers mining company Evraz, owned by Russian Oligarchs
Roman Abramov and Alexander Abramovitch. They were promised a rise in April,
but instead got am 'insulting' one-off handout
The Independent Union of Miners of Ukraine say the oligarchs are greedy and pay a beggar's wage to miners
Abramov and Abramovitch send their money offshore, pay no taxes in Ukraine. Sounds familiar?
Ukrainian Socialist Solidarity - Justice for the Kryvyi Rih Miners - End Slave Labour
Police talked with the protesters and confirmed that these offices are only a front for EVRAZ
whose actual business is opaque
It seems to be exactly kind of thing that gives the City of London a bad name
The protesters should have had the City regulators protesting with them!
But the City has a very large carpet that accomodates all kinds of nasty business swept under it
The 'A World to Win' banner
and also the Independent Workers Union at the protest
But many on the British left have not shown solidarity,
as the miners support the Maidan and are opposed to the Russian intervention in the Ukraine
