Pay UAL Cleaners a Living Wage

Chelsea College of St, London. Tue 11 Mar 2014

 Opposite the College

UAL Clean up your act - pay all staff a living wage

Students, academic staff and trade unionists joined the protest

The Students' Union took their banner inside the college

asking if the Vice-Chancellor had left

They went outside and shortly after he came out

and talked to the students

in a rather condescending fashion

They made clear they didn't accept his excuses. The cleaners deserve a living wage and the university could and

should insist that all of their contractors pay the London Living Wage to people who work there

After he had left the protesters walked across the square to the building where the meeting was to be held

They were told they could go in to the meeting so long as they put down their banners, placards and megaphones,
and the students decided to do so. The rest of us left.
