 1200 Covenanters were locked in this area - then just a field with walls around. Many died of starvation and exposure

 

 

 
      
 
        
City of the Dead tour - and the fake grave of Greyfriars Bobby, who came for the pies and offal not to sit on the grave of his dead master
(who isn't buried in Greyfriars - another man of the same name.) Nor was the dog buried here - probably thown in an unknown ditch.
