Stand Off at Venezuela Embassy

South Kensington, London. Sat 20 Apr 2013

The supporters of Maduro are not all Venezuelan, and some are from a wider Latino community in the UK that includes many refugees

A woman wears a cap with pictures of both Che and Chavez

I liked the poster 'I am Venesuelan and I cannot KEEP CALM' , but although it was noisy the protest there seemed
little threat of violence from either side - and it was some time before any police arrived.

 Both sides had Venezuelan flags

There was some deeply felt shouting - this woman is telling the protesters they are not Venezuelan - and many were not

Many of those protesting against Maduro showed their Venezuelan identity documents

and took up the chant 'You're not Venezuelan'

A large hashtag #SOSVenezuela

But a new president being elected is democracy rather than emergency
