Barnet Spring - Save Local Democracy

Finchley Central - Friern Barnet, London. Sat 23 Mar 2013

'Capita = Death of Democracy' was the message on the coffin

It was cold and snowing for Barnet Spring

Many of the placards had the names of local people or businesses that supported 'Hands off OUR Barnet'

A disablement protester with the message 'This is what Austerity Looks Like.. The Systematic and Heartless Attack
on the Whole Welfare State' talks with Hillingdon MP John McDonnell.

Protesters say unreasonably high parking charges are killing our High St

People spoke from an open-top bus

Unison were supporting the protest, as well as Socialist Worker

Someone had made a number of heart placards to show that people loved Barnet

Green Party Greater London Assembly member Jenny Jones speaking

The orange flags say 'Save Our Services'

Hillingdon MP John McDonnell speaking

above the Unison Barent Local Government banner on the front of the bus

Another of the hearts for Barnet

Disabled people are particularly hard hit by the cuts in local services
and the failure of 'One Barnet' to provide proper replacements.
