Shaker Aamer - 11 Years in Guantanamo

Parliament Square, London. Wed 13 Feb 2013

A 'Heritage Warden' comes to tell the protesters they cannot stand on the kerb around the grass

or attache their banners to the posts in the grass which is GLA property. I'm surprised they don't tell him to get lost

But the protesters keep to the pavement, which the GLA don't have any control over.

There are enough protesters for banners along the length of the square, with others handing out leaflets across the road

Green MP Caroline Lucas comes over to talk to the protesters and give her support

Shaaker Aamer was illegally rendered to Guantanamo 11 years ago

and despite twice having been cleared for release is still held there - and is still being routinely beaten and shackled by the guards

He has never been charged with any offence

And was 'cleared' for release 5 years ago
