Cycling the Grand Union

West Drayton - Milton Keynes return. Tue-Wed 24-5 Jul 2012

West Drayton, close to my first close encounter with a very prickly bush when I tripped carrying the bike down some steps

The canal banks used to be lined with small factories, but most of these are now replaces by large blocks of lfats

as this no doubt will be shortly

 a fine restored bridge

 Linda does some map reading

 a fairly isolated mooring

Many locks have nicely built cottages

a typical canal building, simple and precise

One of only two swing bridges we saw on the trip

The cows were making a lot of noise as we passed this farm

The sun was getting lower, it had been the hottest day of the year

It was probably my sweat that had steamed up the lens when I took this

Even the M25 has a certain grace

if rather less pictureque

One of the nicest buildings in Uxbridge
